IFTA nomination!
The short documentary Best Foot Forward, made as part of the BA in Film & Television Production at CDCFE, in coordination with the University of Wolverhampton in the UK, has been nominated for an IFTA as Best Short Film.
This beautiful film shows a day in the life of Mary Duffy, a painter born without arms. The film has already screened at many festivals in Ireland and abroad and has been nominated for several awards. It was directed by Seán Hart and produced by Bill McHugh, now graduates of the course.
The documentary will be next seen at the first edition of the Achill Island Film Festival in May, together with other short films made as part of the course last year: the drama The Winner, directed by Anna Moloney and produced and shot by David Shoyinka, which has also screened at several national festivals, and the investigative documentary Have you Heard from Declan? made by George Sharpson and Sadhbh Hughes.
These films were made during a very difficult academic year, under the restrictions and hardship of the Covid 19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. Staff and students at the college adapted and strived to still make films under the circumstances, and we’re very proud of the achievements of all the films.
