NEW MUSIC FRIDAY 🎸
This week we are delighted to be joined by Ae Mak!
'Folk Songs For Mama & Papa' is out today.
Irish artist Ae Mak (Aoife McCann) unveils her highly anticipated debut album Folk Songs For Mama & Papa, out now May 29th, 2026, on digital and vinyl via Spacer Records.
After years of making genre-defying, other-worldly pop music and performing visceral, kinetic shows across Europe and the UK, this record marks a quiet and profound shift. Mainly inspired by her own spirit and influenced by artists such as Björk, Judee Sill, Aldous Harding and Paul Simon, Folk Songs For Mama & Papa steps away from character-making and toward essence. It is a cosmical - spiritual folk record rooted in voice, breath, and emotional resonance in the body.
At the heart of Folk Songs For Mama & Papa is a shedding of masks. After years of classical training, character-led performance, mimicry, and joyful make-believe, Ae Mak lets her own voice lead - technically grounded, emotionally bare, and fully embodied. Teaching vocal interpretation in Berlin and rediscovering the joy of singing folk songs at parties - Dylan, Baez, Joni - cracked something open. The title isn’t a nod to The Mamas & The Papas, but to her own mam and pappi, who raised her on folk records and harmony and left albums leaning by the turntable for easy reaching.
This is a record born from pain and searching, but also from humour and devotion. It is about illumination, creation, connection, and the quiet, ecstatic knowing that we are not alone - we are spiritual beings having a human experience - “we came from the stars, you see.”

NEW MUSIC FRIDAY 🎸
This week we are delighted to be joined by Edwina van Kuyk!
'Here To Stay' is out on May 22nd!
Limerick pop-soul artist Edwina van Kuyk returns with her most ambitious single to date. 'Here To Stay' arrives May 22nd, featuring the choir from St. Kevin's Community College in Clondalkin, produced by Cian O'Donoghue.
Described by Hot Press as "a thrilling new talent in Irish music," Edwina has steadily built one of the more compelling careers in the Irish independent scene. Her debut EP 'Feels So Right' earned national radio support across, with the title track named RTÉ 2FM's Track of the Week. Follow-up single 'Find My Way' landed on Spotify's editorial playlist 'Fresh Finds Pop'.
'Here To Stay' marks a new chapter. Edwina says: "I've always been really inspired by gospel music and have dreamt about having a live choir on one of my songs, so I feel really lucky to have the choir from St. Kevin's Community College in Clondalkin involved. They're incredibly talented, and thanks to them, I was able to bring the vision for Here to Stay to life."
With each release building on the last, Edwina is an artist clearly hitting her stride. The momentum behind her, the national profile growing, and a sound that keeps expanding, 'Here To Stay' feels less like a new single and more like a statement of intent. The title, it turns out, says it all.
