🥋 INTERNATIONAL TAEKWONDO DAY 2026

Today, 4 September, we join the global Taekwondo community in marking International Taekwondo Day.

The date commemorates 4 September 1994, when Taekwondo was selected as an official Olympic sport for the Sydney 2000 Games. In 2006, World Taekwondo formally designated 4 September as International Taekwondo Day.

South Dublin Taekwondo was founded in 2008 with the core values of Taekwondo in mind. Since then, our aim has remained simple: to provide a place where local people can train, improve their fitness, make friends and support one another.

For some, Taekwondo includes competition—from a first local event to the highest level they may achieve on their journey. For many others, it is about exercise, confidence, friendship, routine and being part of a community. Every reason for stepping onto the mat matters.

Our sincere thanks and warmest greetings to all who have played a part in our Taekwondo journey to date, and to those who continue to help pave the way for the future.

Happy International Taekwondo Day to our members, friends and colleagues throughout Ireland and around the world. 🇮🇪🌍
