My colleague Mary Shorten and I will present this workshop in Cork, from 19-23 June. We will be joined by thirteen fellow teachers from Ireland, UK, Germany, Sweden and the US, and many students, both new to the work and with experience. Together we will spend 4.5 days exploring the fascinating work of FM Alexander.

What makes Alexander’s approach to personal growth and development stand out, is how he draws on the relationship between the mental and physical, to bring about benefits that are simultaneously physical and mental.

So if there is any area in life you would like to be better at, this might be just what you need! Indeed, if you are interested in the whole question of the mind in general, then this is definitely a subject that is worth exploring.

There are some spaces left. Click/scan the QR code for all the info you need.

What is the ITM approach to the Alexander Technique and what makes it unique?

“More than any other approach to teaching the work of FM Alexander, the Interactive Teaching Method (ITM) focuses on the role of thinking in relation to movement.
Rather than relying on strict or formal repetition of movement patterns, this approach engages the power and resources of each student in enlivening their capacities to plan and carry out the activities of their daily lives with greater effectiveness, efficiency, and flexibility as well as with less stress, less strain and discomfort”. Don W**d (1950-2022)

Many thanks to Drottningholms Slottsteater in Stockholm for hosting our two-day workshop, and to all the excellent musicians who came to take part with open minds to new ideas. It was a beautiful and historical setting, perfect to explore new ways of thinking in relation to music practice and performance.

There are some places available on the next workshop in Knockrose House, Kilternan, Co Dublin which will take place on 11th January at 1015am for 2.5 hours.

These workshops take place once a month and are suitable as introductions to Alexander’s work as well as for continuing students.
Alexander discovered a powerful approach to living and moving with more freedom and ease. While his work is often associated with performance and/or sports, it can help anyone learn to do anything more easily, and with more accomplishment.

All welcome! Get in touch by DM or email to book a place and please share with anyone who may be interested - thanks!
