Dr Brendan Ciarán Browne wins 2018/19 Trinity College Dublin, Provost's Teaching Award! The competitive award recognises excellence in teaching across all disciplines in college and is awarded to a select few following a two tier assessment process. Since joining Trinity in 2016, Dr Browne has been nominated for the Provost's Teaching Award on two occasions, previously in 2017. The award will be presented by the Provost to Dr Browne at a formal reception.

The recent graduation season saw Dr Suzanne Helene Foy receive her PhD for her research into the role of engaged theatre in peacebuilding in Northern Ireland. Dr Foy's work used conflict transformation theory and an ethnographic study of two productions by Kabosh Theatre and Verbal Arts Centre to analyze how theatre can stimulate the 'moral imagination' for peace. We send many congratulations to Dr Foy on her graduation.

International Peace Studies Seminar with Front Line Defenders: Defending Human Rights in Western Sahara with Djimi Elghalia - Wednesday 27 March 2019, 2.00pm-3.30pm. Venue: G7, ISE/Loyola Institute.
Djimi Elghalia is a distinguished human rights activist from Western Sahara - she is the Vice President of the ASVDH, an organisation that documents human rights abuses against the Sahrawi people of Western Sahara, and she is also a member of the Committee for the Families of Disappeared Saharawis. She herself was subjected to enforced disappearance in 1981, and again for 3 and a half years from 1987 to 1991, after participating in a protest against the Moroccan occupation. In 2016 Djimi received the prestigious "Pimentel Fonseca" award for her peaceful struggle for the rights of others. All welcome.
