National Principals’ Forum: Public Page

The National Principals Forum met with the Minister today to discuss key challenges facing primary school leadership.

We highlighted the need for:

• Sustainable principal roles, and increased release time for teaching principals.

• Stronger inclusion and SEN structures, including the need for SEN data collection on POD to identify accurate SEN profiles, and thus ensure sufficient SET and SNA supports are allocated to schools annually.

• Funding that reflects the real running costs of schools.

We sincerely thank Minister Naughton and her team of senior advisors for their engagement & for listening to the operational experience of school leaders implementing education policy on the ground.

Ensuring alignment between responsibility, authority & resources is key. We look forward to continued constructive engagement.

National Principals' Forum (NPF) representative Alan Kelly will feature on Virgin Media's tonight's show at 10pm, highlighting the issues principals wish to raise in relation to the systemic inadequacy of supports for our pupils with additional needs.
