Dental Hygienists Must Be Registered
Practising as a Dental Hygienist without registration is considered illegal practise, and any indemnity insurance you have will be void. This puts patients in significant danger and the Dental Council will take action against illegal practice.
Dental Hygienists can only work under the supervision of a registered Dentist. Dentists are obliged to ensure that their clinical staff are appropriately registered and a failure to ensure this, may result in dentist facing an allegation of professional misconduct.
If you are a Dental Hygienist and you want to practise your profession in Ireland, you must be registered with the Dental Council of Ireland.
To check if your Dental Hygienist is registered, please email [email protected].
