CREST's Centre Director Dr. John Colreavy will be leaving CREST as his secondment from Enterprise Ireland comes to an end in June 2012. John came to DIT from Enterprise Ireland in 2003 and under his stewardship CREST has built an excellent reputation for its research activity and output, and its engagement and support of industry. Dr. Colreavy has received numerous awards for his commercialisation activities including the ‘Enterprise Ireland Research Commercialisation National Award’. Dr. Colreavy has secured over €6M in funding since 2004, with €1M funding coming directly from industries. Dr. Colreavy, with his colleagues in CREST, has transferred sixteen commercial licenses to industry, filed three patents and launched a spin-out business (Radical Coatings) in December 2010. He was the sole Irish research exhibitor invited to the first EU Innovation Convention in Brussels in 2011.
DIT and Enterprise Ireland have instituted a transition agreement that ensures the continued rapid growth of the Centre and the post of Director of CREST will be advertised internally and externally in the coming weeks. Congratulations John on your achievements in CREST over the last 9 years and we wish you every success for the future.
