A youth group for children with Mild Intellectual Disability such as Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism, Asperger’s syndrome, ADHD, Dyspraxia ECT
“Expectant is a youth group for children in primary school with a Mild Intellectual Disability (Such as Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism, Asperger’s syndrome, ADHD, Dyspraxia, Down’s Syndrome, Learning difficulties Ect) to hang out together in a safe environment where they feel included and accepted.”
It is on every second Friday (dates on the flyer) from 6.30pm to 8pm in Urban Junction, Black
rock. We also have a Bring Your Own picnic dinner at 5.30pm. There is no charge but there are a limited number of places available due to the hall size. EXPECTANT is part of the Ignite network. We are committed to an inclusive Christian ethos and open to all children regardless of their beliefs.

Criteria: Children with a Mild Intellectual Disability who are able to look after their own intimate care.

An overview of a night at EXPECTANT:
5.30pm – Sign In and hangout time
5.45pm - Bring Your Own picnic dinner and hangout time
** Parents welcome to hang around and eat with us **
6.15pm – Clean up
6.30pm – Expectant starts

6.30pm - we will start with sign In and hangout time. (20 mins)
6.50pm - Welcome and run through the theme for the week using the visual (PECs) timetable. (10 mins)
7.00pm - Hangout or Optional activities. **Note: the activities will change every week** (15 mins)
7.15pm – Juice and song/ Dance party (15 mins)
7.30pm – Some of the younger kids will go home and everyone else will have Hangout time (20 mins)
7.50pm - Last few minute warning and Home time. This is when one of the leaders give a 5 minute warning and then we all come together to get our belongings and finish up for the night. (10mins)
8pm – Home time for everyone else
