On 19th and 20th of October, the SE4Arts project consortium took a Transnational project meeting, hosted by the Irish Creative Training and Innovative Development Center in Dublin. Unaprjeđenje zdravstvene pismenosti Roma u središtu je projekta „Help to Opportunities“, sufinanciranog u okviru programa Erasmus+ Europske unije, koji trenutno provodimo. Istraživanja pokazuju da se Romi često suočavaju sa značajnim izazovima u pristupu zdravstvenim uslugama, što može rezultirati lošim zdravstvenim stanjima, višim stopama morbiditeta i mortaliteta te zdravstvenim teškoćama. Jezične i kulturološke barijere mogu im otežati razumijevanje medicinskih savjeta, zbog čega je neophodno pružiti im potrebno znanje i vještine za učinkovitu komunikaciju s pružateljima zdravstvenih usluga. Osnaživanjem Roma da preuzmu aktivnu ulogu u vlastitoj zdravstvenoj skrbi i promicanjem zdravog ponašanja, zdravstvena pismenost može im pomoći u prevenciji bolesti i poboljšati opću dobrobit. Ovo su neke od tema o kojima ćemo raspravljati na našem nadolazećem transnacionalnom sastanku u Portugalu sljedeći tjedan na kojem ćemo pripremati aktivnosti učenja za pripadnike romske zajednice. Improving the health literacy of Roma people is at the center of the project "Help to Opportunities", co-funded under the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, which we are currently implementing. Studies show that Roma people often face significant challenges in accessing healthcare services, which can result in poor health outcomes, higher morbidity and mortality rates, and health disparities. Language and cultural barriers can make it difficult for them to understand medical advice, making it essential to provide them with the necessary knowledge and skills to communicate effectively with healthcare providers. By empowering Roma people to take an active role in their own healthcare and promoting healthy behaviors, health literacy can help prevent disease and improve overall well-being. These are some of the topics we will discuss at our upcoming transnational meeting in Portugal next week as we prepare to organize learning activities for members of the Roma community. Stay tuned!
