Congratulations to all eight winners recognised at the 2026 SSI Sport Awards in Athlone last night. From outstanding athletes and teams to inspiring leaders and events, the night showcased the incredible talent across college and university sport in Ireland.

We are proud to officially announce the shortlisted nominees for the SSI Sport Awards 2026 🏆✨

The winners will be announced on Thursday night, 21st May at our SSI Sports Awards Ceremony, where we look forward to celebrating the incredible achievements and successes of all nominees.

Want to build your leadership skills, gain experience in sport, and make an impact? Student Sport Ireland has opened applications for three fantastic programmes for the 2026–2027 academic year:

1. 🏆 SSI Student Ambassador
Become a leader in shaping the future of student sport at university and nationally. A brilliant opportunity to represent your institution, build your profile, and make a difference.

⏰ Deadline: Wednesday 29th April 2026 at 5pm

2. 💡 SSI Student Activators
Develop as a leader in sport, help deliver participation programmes and events, and gain valuable experience supporting student sport.

⏰ Deadline: Friday 15th May 2026 at 5pm

3. 👟 SSI Women’s Student Coaching Academy (WSCA)
A fantastic programme for female students looking to develop as sports coaches with support, qualifications, mentoring, and networking opportunities.

Huge day yesterday at the Student Sport Ireland / Tennis Ireland Inaugural Finals Day 🎾

A brilliant day of tennis to round off the first ever league season, with the top teams in Division 1 and Division 2 battling it out in South Dublin.

UCD claimed the Division 1 title with a 3-1 win over Trinity College Dublin, while Dublin City University 2 were crowned Division 2 champions with a commanding 5-0 win over University College Cork 👏

Huge thanks to Tennis Ireland for all of their help and support, to Michael for all of the racket stringing, and to Lansdowne for hosting us!

Applications are now OPEN for the 2026–2027 Women’s Student Coaching Academy 🙌

Now in its sixth year, the WSCA continues to support and empower female student coaches to develop their skills, gain qualifications, and reach their full potential 💚

Successful applicants will receive mentoring, hands-on coaching experience, workshops, and the opportunity to grow within their sport.
