Stone cold classic

I Feel Love is 40 years old today.
Written by Giorgio Moroder, Pete Bellotte, and Donna Summer.

What can I say about this track that hasn't been said before?
We know it is the blueprint for everything that came after it.
Instead of me writing about the impact this track has had on the world of electronic music, I'll share with you a little story on how it influenced me...

Some time in 1981 I went to a store called John Reynolds Music with my heart set on buying a Roland TR-808. I was 17 years old at the time and didn't quite have the money to purchase it but the sales person showed me these two new machines, the TR-606 (Drumatix) and the TB-303 (Bass Line) which together were cheaper than the 808. After giving me a quick demo I ended up buying them.
The 606 was easy to program, but it took some time before I got the hang of programming the 303. Once I knew what I was doing, the first pattern I put in there was the bass line for I Feel Love.
I think every pattern I programmed after that was always influenced by this amazing piece of music.
