Asking the Algorithm: Understanding the Help-Seeking Behaviours of Young People on TikTok - A Co-Design Approach to Optimise Mental Health and Wellbeing
🧠 As mental health challenges remain highly prevalent among young people, researchers are increasingly interested in the role of social media in mental health help-seeking. As TikTok becomes more and more popular, especially among young people, the role the platform might play in youth mental health help-seeking remains unknown.
🔬 This PhD project aims to 1) explore the experiences of young people using TikTok to access mental health information and support, 2) work with young people to co-design strategies and best practice guidelines for TikTok to optimise the platform to support mental health help-seeking
🤝 The involvement of young people throughout this research process will ensure that the outcomes of the project are appropriate and responsive to their needs
📲 Keep an eye on all our social media platforms for updates on the project including recruitment information which will be coming soon!
