A Research Assistant position is available at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) as part of a joint project between QMUL and University of Trento, Italy funded by the European Research Council. The project ‘Number-space associations in the brain’ seeks to use studies in humans and animal models to understand the neural basis of associations between spatial and neural cognition.
This particular research position will focus on the generation of CRISPR mutant zebrafish for use in behavioural and imaging studies. You will work together with a PhD student and a post-doctoral scientist within the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences at QMUL under the direct supervision of Dr. Caroline Brennan, but will also closely collaborate with the research group of Prof. Giorgio Vallortigara at the Mind Brain Institute, Trento.
The candidate will be in charge of generation and characterisation of targeted loss-of function mutant lines at QMUL. You will provide mutant lines with differential behavioural abilities to partners for further behavioural and imaging analysis. The ideal candidate for this position should have a BSc in neuroscience, genetics, biology or related subject. Experience in the generation of targeted loss-of –function mutants and zebrafish developmental analysis is highly desirable.

Orthogonal Drug Pooling Enhances Phenotype-Based Discovery of Ocular Antiangiogenic Drugs in Zebrafish Larvae Unbiased screening of large randomized chemical libraries in vivo is a powerful tool to find new drugs and targets. However, forward chemical screens in zebrafish can be time consuming and usually >99% of test compounds have no significant effect on the desired phenotype. Here, we sought to find bio...
