Design Your Life is a 5 ECTS Innovation Academy elective running as a Block Week from 31 August–4 September. It’s an interactive, hands-on experience where you’ll use Design Thinking to explore your values, strengths, ambitions and different possibilities for your future.

No exams. GPA-neutral. 5 ECTS.

This Autumn, our Creative Thinking & Innovation (Online) module is teaming up with Twilio.

Here's the exciting part: Twilio is going to give you a real business challenge, and you'll work in teams to come up with a solution and pitch it back to them. No hypothetical case study here. This is the real deal.

Twilio powers AI-driven customer engagement for businesses in over 180 countries, so this is your chance to tackle a problem that actually matters to a global tech company. Pretty cool way to spend a week, right?

This summer, we welcomed students from across the globe for the NICE (Network for Intercultural Competence to Facilitate Entrepreneurship) programme.

Together, students from:

🇮🇹 Università degli Studi di Padova
🇳🇱 University of Amsterdam (UvA)
🇿🇦 University of Johannesburg..came together to take on our Creative Thinking & Innovation module.

Working in multicultural teams, they tackled real-world challenges, explored Design Thinking, and developed innovative ideas while building friendships and learning from different cultures and perspectives.

🇱🇦 Sabaidee from Laos!

What an incredible week it's been for our UCD Innovation Academy team! 🌏

Some of our facilitators have also been in Laos, working alongside colleagues from Vietnam National University (VNU) and the National University of Laos (NUOL) to deliver immersive programmes in creativity, entrepreneurship, and sustainability for both students and educators.

From inspiring workshops and thought-provoking discussions to meeting university leaders and the Irish Embassy's Deputy Head of Mission, it's been a week of learning, collaboration, and building connections that extend far beyond the classroom.

We're especially proud that this initiative was also recognised by the Embassy of Ireland, highlighting the growing collaboration between Ireland, Laos, and Vietnam to strengthen innovation and higher education across the region.

Of course, it hasn't all been work! Our team has been embracing the warm hospitality of the Lao people, practising their Lao greetings, navigating the local currency, and experiencing the rich culture that makes every international collaboration so memorable. 💚

Next stop: Vietnam! 🇻🇳 We can't wait to continue the journey and work with even more students, educators, and partners to inspire the next generation of changemakers.
