🌍 World Environment Day 2026 🌍

Today, on World Environment Day, we are reminded of the urgent need to address the climate and biodiversity emergency that continues to affect communities across the globe. Climate change is not just an environmental issue—it is a matter of justice, impacting those who have contributed least to the crisis yet often bear its greatest consequences.

As Ireland prepares for its upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, beginning on 1 July, we have a unique opportunity to help shape ambitious climate policies and strengthen the EU’s leadership in international climate negotiations. This includes advocating for meaningful action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect biodiversity for future generations.

This year's World Environment Day, hosted by Azerbaijan, highlights the importance of collective action and global solidarity in responding to the climate crisis. Progress will require commitment from governments, communities, businesses, and individuals alike.

A special word of appreciation to the Presentation South India Province and the Presentation Sisters in Schools for their ongoing work in educating, empowering, and inspiring young people to become advocates for environmental stewardship. Through their commitment to awareness, action, and care for our common home, students and the wider Presentation community are demonstrating that those with the greatest resources and opportunities have a responsibility to support and protect the most vulnerable.

Together, let us renew our commitment to building a more sustainable, just, and resilient future for all. 💚🌿
