GARDA INTERVIEW PREPARATION COURSE – SEPTEMBER 2017

At Stage 2 level, your future Garda career depends on how well you will be assessed at interview. Preparation is the key to success. Specifically, can you demonstrate the key competencies adequately. The Garda Interview Preparation Course, can help you succeed.

Aim:
• To pass the garda recruitment interview.

Method:
• Class based teaching
• Interactive sessions, role/play.
• One to one tuition.
• Small class size, maximum 10 people.

Content:
• Brief overview of history and function of An Garda Síochána.
• Garda roles.
• Structure of garda training.
• Interview competency assessment and review.
• Human rights and policing.
• Garda accountability structures:
o Policing authority
o Garda Síochaná Ombudsman Commission
o Garda Inspectorate

COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT AND REVIEW:

There are 5 competencies that you will be assessed on at your interview. A competency is a combination of a skill/trait that you possess, such as communication, self-defense, etc. Your success at the interview will depend to a large extent on how well you demonstrate the required competencies:

1. • Serving the Public,
2. • Problem Solving,
3. • Interpersonal skills,
4. • Personal Effectiveness and Commitment to the role.
5. • Resilience,
