It’s our wedding anniversary today. Ten years ago, we met in the British Council Yangon. From Yangon to Bangkok, Manchester to Dublin, we've carried our love for teaching and learning with us. Each city taught us something new: Thailand showed us adaptability, Manchester introduced us to innovation in EdTech, and now Dublin, where we have just bought our first house.

The dining table where we now plan courses and create content sits in a room that's truly ours. Behind every course design, every video script, and every post on this page is a partnership built on a decade of shared curiosity, mutual support, and an unshakeable belief that learning transforms lives. တစ်လုံးချင်းဆို ရပေမယ့် စကားတွေဆက်တိုက်ပြောလာရင် နားလည်ရခက်တာ ဘာကြောင့်လဲ?

အင်္ဂလိပ်လို စကားပြောတဲ့အခါ နားထောင်သူအပေါ်မူတည်ပြီး ရှင်းရှင်းလင်းလင်း ထွက်ဖို့ထက် လွယ်လွယ်ကူကူ ထွက်နိုင်ဖို့ ဦးစားပေးတဲ့အခါ တချို့စကားလုံးတွေရဲ့ အသံတွေ ပျောက်သွားတာ၊ တချို့အသံတွေက တစ်ခုနဲ့တစ်ခု ပေါင်းစပ်သွားတာတွေ ဖြစ်လာပါတယ်။
ဒီလို စကားပြောတဲ့အခါ တစ်လုံးချင်းစီ သီးခြားမပြောပဲ စကားလုံးတွေ ဆက်စပ်ပြီး စီးဆင်းနေတဲ့ အသံတွေကို connected speech လို့ခေါ် ပါတယ်။ စာဖတ်တဲ့အခါ စကားလုံးတွေကို တစ်လုံးချင်း မြင်ရပေမယ့် စကားပြောတဲ့အခါမှာတော့ အသံတွေက တစ်ဆက်တည်း စီးဆင်းနေပါတယ်။

✨ Connected Speech မှာဘာတွေပါဝင်လဲ?

1️⃣ Weak Forms (အသံပျော့သွားခြင်း) Grammar words တွေဖြစ်တဲ့ articles (a, the), prepositions (to, of), auxiliaries (can, have) စတာတွေကို အသံပျော့ပျော့လေးနဲ့ ပြောလေ့ရှိပါတယ်။
ဥပမာ:
"can speak" = /kən spiːk/ (can ကို အသံပျော့အောင်ပြော)
"cup of tea" = /kʌpə ti:/
"should have" = /ʃədəv/

2️⃣ Linking (အသံဆက်ခြင်း) စကားလုံးနှောင်းပိုင်းက consonant နဲ့ နောက်စကားလုံးရှေ့ပိုင်းက vowel ကို ဆက်ပြီးပြောတာပါ။
ဥပမာ:
"get up" = /ge-tʌp/
"come in" = /kʌ-mɪn/
"take it" = /teɪ-kɪt/

3️⃣ Intrusion (အသံထည့်ခြင်း) Vowel နှစ်လုံးကြားမှာ consonant အသံသစ် (/j/, /w/, /r/) ထည့်ပြီးပြောတာပါ။
ဥပမာ:
"see_it" = /siː-jɪt/ (y-sound ထည့်)
"go_out" = /gəʊ-waut/ (w-sound ထည့်)
"law_and order" = /lɔː-rənd ɔːdə/ (r-sound ထည့်)

4️⃣ Elision (အသံပျောက်ခြင်း) အသံတချို့ လုံးဝပျောက်သွားတာပါ။
ဥပမာ:
"next day" = "nex day" (t ပျောက်)
"comfortable" = "comf-table" (or ပျောက်)
"different" = "diffrent" (e ပျောက်)

သဘာဝကျကျပြောတတ်ဖို့ အရင်နားထောင်၊ နောက်မှလိုက်ပြောပါ
