As the Roma Influencers Network project comes to a close, we are pleased to share two important project outputs:

--> Good Practices for the Prevention of Early Marriage and Early Motherhood in Roma Communities brings together promising approaches from Ireland, Greece, Portugal and Romania, highlighting the importance of education, healthcare, intercultural mediation, community participation and the leadership of Roma women.

--> Our Policy Recommendations build on the findings from all four countries to identify shared challenges and priorities for stronger, rights-based and community-centred policy responses.

Together, these resources aim to support lasting action to prevent early marriage and early motherhood and strengthen the rights, inclusion and participation of Roma women and girls.

Produced through the Erasmus+ Roma Influencers Network – Breaking the Circle of Early Marriages and Early Motherhood in Roma Communities project with Klimaka, Cesis - Centro de Estudos para a Intervenção Social, Sastipen - Centrul Romilor pentru Politici de Sanatate and COOPERACTIVA. As the Roma Influencers Network project moves towards its conclusion, Cairde hosted a National Workshop in Dublin on 18 September to reflect on the work, learning and impact of the project.

The day included a screening of our transnational documentary “Breaking the Circle of Early Marriages and Early Motherhood in Roma Communities,” presentations of project reports, and focus group discussions.

A meaningful opportunity to bring people together, centre Roma women’s voices and reflect on the progress made through this European Erasmus+ partnership. Thank you to all who joined us on the day.

Today, 10 September, we mark World Su***de Prevention Day.

At Cairde, we know how important it is that people feel heard, supported and able to access help, particularly people from migrant and ethnic minority communities who may face additional barriers to mental health support.

The HSE Ireland ’s Let’s Talk About Su***de is a free, 60-minute online training programme that helps you recognise when someone may be thinking about su***de, talk about it safely and connect them with appropriate support.

👉 Take the free training: https://www2.hse.ie/mental-health/helping-someone-else/su***de-prevention-training-programmes/

👉 Find trusted mental health information and services in Ireland in English, Arabic, Chinese, Polish, Russian and Ukrainian at HealthConnect.ie

Reaching out, listening without judgement and knowing where to find help can make a difference.

As we enter the final phase of the Roma Influencers Network project, together with our partners, NGO, Cesis - Centro de Estudos para a Intervenção Social, COOPERACTIVA & Sastipen - Centrul Romilor pentru Politici de Sanatate, we came together yesterday for our final,12th Transnational Meeting.

We reviewed progress on the remaining activities, agreed on the key steps ahead, and focused on ensuring a strong and successful completion of the project.

The meeting also brought some wonderful news: we learned that our transnational documentary, “Breaking the Circle of Early Marriages and Early Motherhood in Roma Communities,” has been selected for another festival, the official competition of the International Film Festival ( IFF) in Romania. Yet another important recognition for the film and the Roma women whose voices on early marriage and motherhood are at its heart.

We are ready for a final push together after an important journey of cross-country collaboration.

We’re delighted to share more international recognition for the Influencers Network documentaries on early marriage and early motherhood, developed by Project partners Κλίμακα ΜΚΟ (Klimaka NGO), Cairde, Sastipen - Centrul Romilor pentru Politici de Sanatate, COOPERACTIVA and Cesis - Centro de Estudos para a Intervenção Social.

The transnational documentary "Breaking the Cycle of Early Marriages and Early Motherhood in Roma Communities" has been selected for screening at the Chania Film Festival, Crete, Greece (along with the Greek short documentary “Name: Ourania"), and the Ake Dikhea? International Romani Film Festival in Berlin, Germany.

Three short documentaries from Greece — "Name: Melpo", "Name: Nicoleta" and "Name: Ourania" — are also award nominees at the Rroma Film Festival in Brașov, Romania, while "Name: Melpo" received an Honorable Mention at the Karditsa International Short Film Festival, Greece.

These selections help bring the voices, experiences and perspectives of Roma women to wider audiences across Europe, while raising awareness of the impact of early marriage and early motherhood.

Congratulations to all the Roma women who shared their stories and to our project partners for their great work.
