Today is World Mental Health Day 2023. When they say your mental health is your wealth, it's not wrong. If you can, do all those little things that help when you are feeling stronger, and this helps build resilience for the harder times. I do mindfulness, nature walks, reaching out to friends, tracking moods and triggers. If I notice slipping, I reach out to counselling. I see it as having a tool kit, and any tool I can add builds resilience for the tougher times.

“Tattoo this onto your mind: people are NOT focussed on YOU - they are focussed on themselves. Once you can really believe this, it is liberating and it is true, you would be amazed what people don’t notice about you as they are far more concerned about what is going on for them.”

Join Dr. Malie Coyne and TD Emer Higgins this Sunday at 3pm where they will be discussing ‘The Psychological Impacts of Harmful Social Media Advertisements’.

Deputy Emer Higgins, TD for Dublin Mid-West and Fine Gael Spokesperson on social media has called on the Government “to list overly edited and photoshopped advertisement images as ‘harmful content’ under the recently published Online Social Media and Regulation Bill.”

“Young people online are being bombarded 24/7 with content that showcases an unrealistic and often unattainable body image which is bound to have an impact on their confidence and mental health.
“Ireland is a world leader when it comes to our ability to attract social media companies. I believe we have an opportunity and a responsibility to take action on this particular issue,”

Dr. Malie Coyne is a clinical psychologist, author and lecturer at NUI Galway and will be joining Emer at 3pm.

Join this exceptionally timely discussion this Sunday as we close out 2022
