* Intervening with a 9-year-old takes four times as long as with a 5-year-old in the early stages of learning (Lyon & Fletcher, 2001).
* 90% of children struggling with reading can reach appropriate literacy levels if supported by age 6 (Vellutino et al., 1996).
* 80% of learners who struggle to read at age 6 continue to face difficulties at age 9 (Sparks, Patton & Murdoch, 2014).
These numbers highlight a clear message: early action makes all the difference.
