🚨 Are you a non-Irish nurse or midwife currently working in the Republic of Ireland? If so, please consider taking this survey and share your experiences of working in Ireland.

Ciarán Carr, a PhD student at the School of Nursing & Midwifery, Trinity College Dublin, is seeking to explore the lived experiences of nurses and midwives — both at work and beyond.

Ciaran has had over 1,200 responses to the survey to date, however most responses have come from Irish nurses and midwives. As per the NMBI’s most recent State of the Register, non-Irish nurses and midwives constitute 41% of the current workforce. With this in mind, we want to encourage non-Irish nurses and midwives working in Ireland to use their voice and have their say.

All responses are confidential, and your participation is voluntary.

Yesterday a new training programme 'Substance Use and Neurodiversity' was launched by TCD Nursing & Midwifery.

The groundbreaking training, commissioned by CityWide Drugs Crisis Campaign with support from ADHD Ireland, is being offered in response to research showing that 21% of people accessing drug and alcohol services have ADHD, with many more affected by autism, dyslexia, or other neurodevelopmental conditions.

This online course will be useful for frontline staff who are engaged in supporting neurodivergent people through substance use services.

Inspiring the next generation of midwives!

Jean Rooney and Emily Moffatt, Assistant Professors in Midwifery, Trinity College Dublin, were delighted to deliver a special session "I'm a Midwife, What's Your Superpower?" at this year's Trinity Access Programmes (TAP) Maths and Science Fest.

Emily and Jean were so impressed by the interest and enthusiasm from the fifth and sixth class children who took part, and asked so many questions about a career in midwifery.

They wrote about the experience here: https://www.tcd.ie/nursing-midwifery/news/2026/midwifery-at-the-tap-maths-and-science-fest/
