📺WATCH: This video shows the winners of the 4th Annual Oireachtas Essay Competition/Aiste an Oireachtais as they were honoured at a special award ceremony in Leinster House on Friday, 8 May 2026.
The competition, which continues to grow in national prominence, invited post‑primary students to explore the timely theme “Is AI a Threat to Democracy?” / “An Intleacht Shaorga: bagairt don Daonlathas?”
Students from Kerry, Donegal, Dublin, Galway, Offaly and Monaghan took the national and regional honours with essays on the theme ‘Is AI a threat to Democracy?’ / ‘An Intleacht Shaorga: bagairt don Daonlathas?’.
The competition encourages critical thinking, research skills, and engagement with public policy among post‑primary students. Now in its fourth year, it continues to grow in participation and national visibility.
