Dublin Gallery Weekend

Visit Graphic Studio Gallery to catch When We Believe, a new show celebrating the work of Yoko Akino & Vaida Varnagiene.

When We Believe, reflects a space where memory, imagination, and perception intersect.

Yoko Akino’s prints balance vivid colour with patterned line, encompassing interiors, cats, seascapes, and symbolic motifs. The poignancy of titles such as When you believe, There it is, point to moments of awareness and transformation. Pattern, rhythm, and subtle shifts of tone structure her compositions, drawing attention to the interplay between form and space to create a sense of reflection and wonder. The work carries an interest in perception, impermanence, and insight through attention.

Vaida Varnagienė’s prints are often punctuated with brilliant colour. Urban scenes, invented houses, and fleeting landscapes shimmer. They explore the tension between home, displacement, and the in-between. In works such as Pink House, and In Between, she traces architecture and landscape, real and imagined, with measured lines and layered colour. Her imagery registers memory as much as place, capturing the subtle pull of leaving, returning, and inhabiting spaces suspended between reality, recollection, and the imagined.

In Yoko’s prints, intricate marks and tonal shifts invite close looking. In Vaida’s, the eye wanders across luminous surfaces, through streets and houses. Together, their work forms a conversation about perception and attention; how pattern, line, and colour can open the familiar into something new.

Open 11am to 5pm, Saturday and Sunday.

📣 Yoko Akino & Vaida Varnagienė
When We Believe
Opening Sat 25 Oct, 3pm
Graphic Studio Gallery, Dublin

We’re delighted to announce the presentation of new work by Yoko Akino & Vaida Varnagienė, in their exhibition, When We Believe. Launching soon!

11/10/2025

✨ Lately, I’ve been drawn to working small — intaglio etchings on plates just 13.5 × 10 cm, where every line feels contemplative and intentional. In this scale, colour becomes a whisper, texture a memory. Each print feels like a quiet conversation between place and imagination. ✨

For When We Believe, I wanted these miniature worlds to carry both fragility and strength — traces of time, fragments of light, the feeling of standing between reality and dream. The process of etching, in its patience and precision, mirrors the way memory unfolds — slowly, layer by layer.

I’d love for you to join us for the opening reception:

A Printed Landscape brings together artists in a vibrant tribute to the city’s green spaces, supported by IPUT Real Estate Dublin.
Opening at the Cowshed Gallery, Farmleigh, located in the heart of Phoenix Park.

Parklife: A Printed Landscape presents new, original fine art prints inspired by specific Dublin parks. The exhibition invites artists to explore the rich landscapes and stories of some of the city’s most iconic parks, with Phoenix Park’s scale and history making it an ideal starting point for this tribute.

The exhibition celebrates the green spaces of our city and 65 years of printmaking at Graphic Studio Dublin. Through its gallery and studios, Graphic Studio Dublin has long been a vital space for artists to create, exhibit, and engage with the public. Each artist’s interpretation of Dublin’s parks contributes to the continued evolution of printmaking in Ireland today, weaving together themes of public space, personal connection, and place.

The works are priced at €250 unframed, €375 framed.

Graphic Studio Dublin is extremely grateful to the principal supporter of this exhibition, IPUT Real Estate Dublin, as well as to the Office of Public Works for generously providing the Cowshed Gallery as the opening venue for this special 65th anniversary show.

Nature Within, Intaglio etching | print size 15x14 cm, paper size 30x25 cm.

This intaglio holds the solitude of a forest path — each line a whisper of wind, each shadow the stillness of being alone beneath the sky. In its heart rests a red small house, sheltered by a golden-yellow tree, with green hills rolling gently beyond. The etched grooves carry the scent of pine, the slow warmth of sun on stone, the distant rush of a hidden stream. Pressed into paper, it becomes not just an image, but a quiet place to return to, a landscape you can step into whenever the world feels too loud.
