As mentioned in a previous post, I am raising awareness about Imposter Phenomenon. With the University of College Cork's support, I will be doing research on this and will be sending out a survey in the next week. Until then, I thought I would remind everyone about what Imposter Phenomenon is.
1. It is also known as Imposter Syndrome. As this isn't a diagnosable 'disorder', because it is based on one's own thoughts and feelings, it is considered a 'phenomenon'.
2. It happens because we don't feel, or think, that we are good enough. We believe we are an imposter to our organisation/university/sports teams etc. This is despite the fact that there is objective evidence that indicates that one is fully capable of fulfilling these types of roles.
3. It is an under-researched area. Because of this, I will be exploring the association of internal and external resources, in organisations, and Imposter Phenomenon....all will become clear when you complete the survey.
I hope that by sharing/re-sharing this type of information, you will be willing to take part in the study. All participation is governed by the University of College Cork and is protected by the Data Protection Officer at the university.
Thank you to my wonderful supporters who are willing to participate.
