The conversation around racism in Ireland has been a heated topic for many people over the past 12 months
One thing I will highlight and where I see a lot of lack of experience is that not only is it affecting black people but also Irish people who come from lower income areas where they are treated in a very discriminating way.
They get treated just as bad as some of us and it’s not okay to just accept that as how it is.
If the system is broken why not aim to fix it, if we can improve certain issues and it will benefit everyone why not fix it?
Those that have experience of being discriminated will know and unfortunately many that don’t will say it’s not even that bad or why are they keep crying about it!
Our brothers and sisters in travelling community will know, those that come from low income areas will know, foreign people to the land will know and understand because they have felt what it’s like to be discriminated based on how you look, talk, walk or where you come from!
Let’s strive for a better system one that offers equality

You gave me life and went through incredible lengths so I could have a fighting chance to make something of myself in this world and to be good.
It’s smiles and laughter now but you weathered incredible storms and kept the lights on when it was impossible, you managed to keep it sunny when there’s nothing but dark clouds and rain. You have been through it all for us!
A thousand thank yous will never been enough but you have an amazing place in my heart always.

This era belongs to us and you are gonna need an army to try and stop this!
I have worked with incredible young men and women who have overcome some very testing times and continue to preserve! The future belongs to those who refuse to surrender no matter what obstacles are put before them!
We have work to do and lives to change and so we must March forward as collectives, lean on each other for inspiration, motivation and above all encouragement.
The world is ours!!

The Irish traveller community is a community that we can all learn a lot from and this conversation with really educated me on the values and cultures that travellers hold so deeply.
There are strong values built around family, identity and knowing what it means to be a traveller, the strength, the courage and the faith.

Do not underestimate age out here, there’s too much power in young people.
Years ago I said the main struggle young people will have is for their voices and opinions to be heard, because of their youth and inexperience many will discount their opinions. But the youth have incredible visions of the future and they need a little guidance, more resources and opportunities and the future will be a brighter one for everyone.
I see the fire in their eyes, the passion and the potential just trying to jump out and if that fire and potential is not nurtured through support systems, resources, opportunities then we will miss out on some amazing things in the future.
It’s in everyone’s interest for young people to do well and be in the right places to grow authentically, and for the youth remain strong willed, focused and driven towards making not only your life better but the community also and the world will be at your finger tips!
