The people of Dungarvan have spoken 🫔

16/08/2026

A student asked me ā€œHow do I defer my CAO place?ā€

Please do NOT accept the CAO offer āŒ

Instead, email that university.

Copy this email format:

SUBJECT LINE: Deferred entry

Include your full name, CAO number, course code and reason for deferral.

You must do this at least 2 days BEFORE the CAO reply deadline.

Get that sorted, than next year just re-apply through CAO and tick ā€œdeferred applicantā€ box.

Again, I appreciate a share, every student needs to know this!

Every Leaving Cert needs to know how to appeal their results šŸ‘‡

Step 1: On Tuesday, August 25th, check your actual percentage grade in each subject.

Step 2: If you’re close, apply to view your script. This is FREE.

Step 3: If you’re not happy, appeal the result. Pay €40 per subject. If your grade goes up, you get the €40 back and your points are readjusted.

Just be aware, only around 1 in 5 appeals were upgraded last year.

Send this to every Leaving Cert you know before Thursday, they might just need it!

If you fail Maths, do you fail your Leaving Cert?

No, that’s a compete myth āŒ

There’s no PASS or FAIL for the Leaving Cert.

However, Maths is needed to get into most college courses. This is called matriculation.

Most courses will require an 06 or H6 grade in Maths to get in. Some engineering courses need a H4 grade.

But good news - there are a few Arts and Law courses that don’t require a pass in Maths at all.

And only around 1% of students fail Maths each year.

It’s very low.
