Whitehart Hampshire Downs โ 2025 Year in Review
The South of Ireland Hampshire Down Breeders Female Show and Sale brought another successful year to a close for Whitehart Hampshire Downs. We offered four ewe lambs and one in-lamb ewe, all of which found new homes
2025 proved to be a highly rewarding year for us, both in the show ring and at sales, with every animal presented finding a buyer.
At the South of Ireland Hampshire Down Breeders Annual Show and Sale in Tullow, our ewe lamb claimed 1st Prize in her class and went on to be awarded Best Opposite S*x in the Championship. Another ewe lamb, kindly shown by John Jones, secured 4th place in the same class, while we also achieved 2nd Prize in the ram class.
A particularly memorable highlight came at the All-Ireland Show at Athlone Agri Show, where our Loughan Moss Bruce-sired ram lamb was named Reserve Champion and also took Best Opposite S*x. We were thrilled to win 1st Prize in the pairs class, and our ewe lamb continued the success with another 1st in her class.
Our proudest moment, however, came when our four-and-a-half-year-old daughter Ria stepped into the show ring for the very first time with her pet lamb Sky, earning her first red rosette. A special thank you to Kevin McCarthy, the judge on the day, for his kind encouragement and valuable advice for Riaโs future in showing.
We also enjoyed a strong year of private sales, with all of our ram lambs going to returning customers, and several select ewe lambs joining the flocks of new and upcoming breeders.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout the year โ from those purchasing our stock for pedigree breeding to those adding them to commercial flocks. Your continued encouragement means the world to us. Michael Fiona and Ria
