The "Leave No One Behind" Conversations

The "Leave No One Behind" Conversations The "Leave No One Behind" conversations is a 2017 project run by ATD Ireland

In 2017 and 2018, ATD Ireland aims to facilitate "Leave No One Behind" conversations all around Ireland with the aim to create a national handbook helping citizens and institutions to walk the talk of the 2030 agenda promise! In spring 2017, with the support of young students, ATD have run a pilote named the "Leave No One Behind Workshops". It was a program aimed at raising awareness and creating

a dialogue between youths on the Sustainable Development Goals and the "Leave No One Behind" promise. The aim of this pilote was to empower young people on global issues and to collect their views about the challenges of leaving no one behind. The workshops were broken down into three parts:
1) An Intro to the program
2) A workshop focusing on the group and the SDG with the young people
3) A workshop focusing on what leaving no one behind means to the young people and how they see it can be achieved (or not - and why not?) in everyday life. This pilote activity will be developed during ‘Growing Together to leave no one behind…by creating a series of community based conversations', a 2017-2018 project supported by Concern and the French Foundation ATD

The project aims to raise awareness about the "Leave No One Behind" promise of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to involve citizens from all walks of life (children, youths, adults - including people with experience of poverty and marginalisation) in the design of "Leave No One Behind: Walking the Talk", a handbook and a video presenting ways to create inclusive communities in school, at work, in one's neighbourhood or in services. The Project Activities:

- The Facilitation of 10 workshops on the topic “Leave No One Behind” in the context of the SDGs with many groups, as outlined above. Six of the groups would be based in Dublin and the remaining would be from other parts of Ireland, involving travel of facilitators and people who have experience of poverty.

- A Social Media Campaign on Facebook,Twitter and a dedicated website asking a larger audience to consider and share ideas on how we can ensure to fulfill the promise “Leave No One Behind”.

- The Production of a “Leave No One Behind Conversations” Toolkit using existing available resources and creating new ones. The Toolkit would be used in a series of development education workshops or ‘conversations'.

- The organisation of a final conference “The Leave No One Behind Summit”, with the launch of a handbook presenting the learnings from the workshops and the social media campaign. This will further increase awareness of the SDGs and allow participants to reflect on how Irish society can ensure no one is left behind by giving them a framework to act to bring about positive change locally and globally. The conference would have input from various stakeholders including members of the recently formed “Coalition 2030”, academics, politicians, and members of domestic and international NGOs. This would also be an ideal platform to showcase the varied and excellent work supported by Concern across the world. A significant input will be made by people who have experience of poverty or marginalisation in Ireland.
