๐๐ DLD AWARENESS DAY AT ST. JOHNโS! ๐๐
Next Friday, 16th October, we will be celebrating Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) Awareness Day here in St. Johnโs NS! ๐ฃ๐ก
We are very lucky to have a Language Class in our school, where all of the children have a diagnosis of DLD. We are so proud of our wonderful children and are looking forward to raising awareness and celebrating them! ๐๐
๐ What is DLD? ๐
Developmental Language Disorder affects how children understand and use language. Children with DLD may find it difficult to learn new words, follow instructions, express themselves or join in conversations.
DLD is often described as a hidden difficulty, as it isnโt something you can see. By raising awareness, we can help build greater understanding, inclusion and support for children with DLD. ๐
๐ฃ๐ก LETโS TURN ST. JOHNโS PURPLE & YELLOW! ๐ก๐ฃ
We are inviting ALL children and staff to wear purple and/or yellow next Friday, 16th October, to show their support and help us raise awareness of DLD! ๐๐
Throughout the school, we will also be learning a little more about DLD and the challenges some children face.
We canโt wait to see lots of purple and yellow around St. Johnโs next Friday! ๐๐
You canโt see DLD, but together we can raise awareness! ๐๐
