M1 Drogheda Chamber Skillnet, a multi-sector learning network which provides subsidised training to local businesses across the North East, will be the sponsoring partner for the 2026 Drogheda and District Chamber President’s Lunch.
The sold out gala celebration takes place in the Marcy Hotel on March 26th.

President, Miriam Simon, will host the afternoon, that will include a fireside chat with David Conway, Chief Executive of Louth County Council, Shona McManus, CEO/owner of Osborne Recruitment and Edward McCloskey, founder of WaterWipes and EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2025.

M1 Skillnet is regarded as a key provider in the business sector, sourcing top trainers and also part funding training requirements, meaning that your business will receive invaluable training for your workforce at a fraction of the normal cost.

Skillnet also offers networking opportunities for your business, fostering a collaborative approach to making new contacts with other businesses along the M1 corridor.

In announcing the partnership with the Chamber in relation to the President’s Lunch, Shona Kelly, M1 Skillnet Manager, stated, “Being at the heart of business in this region means being fully engaged with our community. Events like this are a great opportunity to connect with the people driving industry locally. We look forward to meeting many of those leaders and wish the Chamber and its President every success on what promises to be a fantastic day.

Our support for the Drogheda Chamber President’s Lunch reflects our ongoing commitment to the regional business community. Through our programmes and partnerships, we continue to strengthen workforce skills, support enterprise development, and help ensure the long-term competitiveness of the North East economy.”

We are delighted to announce this much anticipated 1 day training course that will focus on equipping retail team members with essential skills to handle challenging behaviours and safety risks in their daily operations.

Emphasis will be placed on de-escalation techniques, enabling participants to manage tense situations calmly and professionally. Additionally, the training will cover handling theft, loitering, and anti-social behaviours confidently, using assertive communication and conflict resolution strategies to maintain control. Visit our website to book.

In an increasingly volatile work space where some customer's behaviours can become aggressive and difficult to handle, retailers need to equip their staff with coping strategies.

M1 Drogheda Chamber Skillnet is delighted to be a co-sponsor of the upcoming Retail & Hospitality Jobs Fair and Career Expo that is taking place on Tuesday, October 1 from 11am to 12.30pm in Scotch Hall Shopping Centre.

Drogheda and District Chamber, Louth Local Development and venue hosts, Scotch Hall Shopping Centre, are combining with us to stage this free event at which up to 20 high profile businesses will be attending.

Those seeking employment are welcome to come along, bring a CV and hopefully start a new career path. The focus will be on retail and hospitality and as well as getting advice and information on job opportunities, those attending can learn about trades and job seeking techniques.

“While this is about helping people gain employment, it is also about how to apply for jobs and what skills people may need. We’d love to see a huge crowd come out and see what is available,” the organisers stated.

“We would also welcome those in the retail and hospitality sector to get in contact with us and be part of the day. Looking towards Christmas and then into 2025, we hope this event will give people a chance to get on the employment ladder and perhaps forge a new career for themselves.” For further information contact Joe Lynch [email protected].

The event is co-funded by the Government of Ireland the European Union.

Every business person trains people almost without a thought! Small, medium and large enterprises engage in training through an iterative process and seldom is thought given to the trainers giving out vital information, feedback and business intelligence necessary to the business’s success. Change that with our Train the Trainer course with one of the most successful programmes we currently run. This massively discounted course has almost sold out with only 5 places remaining. Proudly supporting diversity through training. This M1 Drogheda Chamber Skillnet programme is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union.
