PROPOSE: The network will make a positive impact on child carers, we feel that a sector support network which is available to provide information, discuss issues on a ground level, will help and assist all services through time. We aim to respond to training needs as they arise on a needs basis, making training more accessible and relevant to the service needs. NETWORK MEMBERSHIP: By opening the network it will give service's a better understanding of each other, community v private, sessional v full daycare. By including all sectors of childcare this will give educators a voice of their own, previously where service owners may not have networked or passed information of sector training on staff may have missed out on valuable continuing professional development opportunities through lack of knowledge. We felt if we did not impose a membership fee, members would only come out to meetings when they required training. This could affect the life span of the network and the network would become difficult to manage and may lead to failure of our aim. Previously the Letterkenny based private providers network had a membership fee in place per service, however with small services of 2 staff and larger services of 30 staff the set service fee proved to be unfair. The network registration fee per person has been proposed as 20.00 Euro As the network is in it's infancy this is open to discussion at our launch evening.
