🏃‍♀️💙 St Francis National School at the Eamon Harvey 5K & Family Walk 💙🏃‍♂️

It was fantastic to see such a great turnout of pupils from St Francis National School taking part in the annual Eamon Harvey 5K Fun Run & Family Walk.

A special congratulations to one of our pupils, who made it onto the podium!👏🏅

Here’s a photo of some of the St Francis pupils who took part. Well done to everyone who got involved and represented the school so brilliantly.

A huge well done to all the organisers and volunteers on what was a very special occasion for the community. ❤️

Our school community is heartbroken to hear of the passing of our beloved past pupil, Finn Gallagher.

Finn will always be remembered with such love and affection. His smile, kindness and the happy memories he created during his time in our school will stay with us always. He touched the hearts of so many, and he will never be forgotten.

Our thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies are with Zack, Nuala, Lily, and the entire Gallagher and Toland families as they face this unimaginable loss. We also keep all of Finn's friends and everyone who knew and loved him in our thoughts.

May you find strength in the love and support that surrounds you, and may precious memories of Finn bring comfort in the days ahead.

Rest in peace, Finn.

🏃🥊🏌️ 🚣Active School Week

Last week we had a very busy and exciting 5 days celebrating Active School Week! The children enjoyed lots of fun-filled exercise and activities throughout the week.

All classes had the opportunity to try their hand at golf, take part in water relays, complete scavenger hunts, and put their skills to the test in our obstacle course races.

A huge thank you to St John Bosco A.B.C for visiting us last week. We were very fortunate to have six coaches join us, including Ulster champion and All-Ireland finalist Isla McShane. The children thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and were inspired by the experience.

Our Active School Week celebrations finished on Friday with our whole-school sports day. The rain held off and a fantastic day was had🏅🎉

6th class also had a brilliant visit from Donegal Dragons , the class loved learning about all things Dragon Boat. A huge thank you to Bev and Deborah for sharing their expertise and for this opportunity. For those children interested, Dragon Boat sessions are held every Monday, Wednesday and every second Saturday.

Well done to all the boys and girls on all their efforts over the week, we look forward to Active School Week 2027😀🎉

🏹 Active School Week 🏀
We had a fantastic start to Active School Week today with visits from two wonderful local clubs.
A huge thank you to Peter, Ray and Elizabeth from Donegal Archers who visited our school to introduce the children to the sport of archery. They provided coaching sessions and put on an impressive exhibition for all classes. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learned lots about this exciting sport. For any children interested in taking up archery, Donegal Archers are based in Murvagh.
We also welcomed Donegal Town Basketball Club, and Simon and Enda led lots of fun games and activities with our pupils. Thank you both for generously volunteering your time. The children had a brilliant time and loved every minute of it!
We also had our first Students V Staff competition of the week, with the 6th class students coming out on top😀
We are looking forward to more games, activities and sporting fun throughout the rest of the week as we continue to celebrate Active School Week. 💪🎉

Today’s the day! Join us at 2pm as we celebrate 40 wonderful years of St. Francis National School.

As you make your way around the school, be sure to take a look at the fantastic collection of memorabilia displayed throughout the classrooms. From old photographs and class records to treasured memories from years gone by, there’s plenty to bring you down memory lane and spark a few conversations!

And if you remember the old log books… well, you might just be giving away your age! 😄 There was no Aladdin, Google Classroom or digital attendance back then – just pen and paper!

We look forward to welcoming past and present pupils, staff, families and friends as we celebrate four decades of learning, friendship and community.
