Undulate baby ray at Oceanworld: Undulate rays (Raja undulata) are an native Irish ray, that's right like a sting ray but without the sting! However these beautiful creatures are also Endangered in the wild due to over fishing and fishing practises. Tralee and Di**le Bay however are known to be great breeding ground for rays due to the flat sandy bottom and good food supply.
Here at Di**le we are working towards the conservation of this beautiful ray before it is to late. We are working with Aquariums around Europe in a breeding programme with the aim to help re populate and protect the gentic diversity of the Undulate Ray. And what a success so far! As we our first baby ray has hatched! She is only 4 cm across and really does make you marvel at nature.

Thanks to the volunteers who took the time to come to the Beach Clean! We cleaned the whole beach in under 3 hours. The only thing we couldn't move was a big chunk of net stuck in the sand but I'm not giving up! And my lucky streak of great weather on the day continues!

The Big Beach Clean will be the 19th, 20th & 21st September. There will be groups cleaning a number of beaches around the peninsula- Muiríoch & Baile na nGall, Wine Strand, and Inch Beach . The Oceanworld group will be cleaning the beach at Baile Dháith on Saturday 20th at 11am. See you there!

A big thank you to everyone who turned up for the beach clean yesterday at Ventry beach. A couple of hours work really paid off. We gathered 27 bags of rubbish, fish boxes, nets, pieces of cars, plastic bags and much more. The total weight was 174kg (383lbs)! Really fantastic work, and the sun was shining the whole time, an added bonus :)
