We have a favourable pupil teacher ratio and a strong digital culture aligning with the new curriculum. The school boasts of the latest in computer technology, Ipads, Interactive Whiteboards and High Speed 500MB Fibre Internet access, which allows us to facilitate online Science Workshops etc.. The ch

ildren are all encouraged to take part in this technological side of modern education, which is used to supplement learning where possible. Recreation facilities include an impeccably cut one-acre playing field, a hurling wall, sports and play equipment and outdoor sheds. The children are coached in Tag Rugby, Table Tennis, Hurling and Football throughout the school year. The tin whistle/recorder is taught to all the Senior Classes. Students get an opportunity to experience Science, Drama, History, Geography and we have a strong tradition of Gaeilge in the school. We are an Aistear promoting school with a range of resources to support each theme. We actively promote station teaching in both the Senior and Junior Rooms. The Accelerated Reading Programme is used with the Senior Classes and is a fantastic resource for motivation and encouragement of reading along with the development of literacy skills. The New Renaissance Freckle TM Maths Programme is used to supplement the delivery of the Maths Curriculum.

Following a long process, where we had to overcome many obstacles and hurdles, we are finally delighted to provide an independently run Childcare Facility on our school grounds.

The Playschool Crosspatrick will operate from 7.50am to 5.30pm and will cater for morning drop offs, early learning and afterschool care. We wish them every success.

It is a securely fenced facility for child safety and will have use of a new covered outdoor shelter for those rainy days that have returned after the heatwave.

If the heatwave does return, the air conditioning system in the Childcare Facility will keep students nice and cool on those unbearably hot June afternoons.

While it can frustrate the population of Rural Ireland, it is not possible to open such a facility without being fully compliant with all regulations and statutory bodies.

Therefore we thank everyone for their patience and good will during this long process.

The students were thrilled, and it is fair to say that they enjoyed their lovely little treats.

Well done to our Crosspatrick NS Girls on their involvement in the Camogie Competition: Orla Fogarty, Emma Carroll, Kate Walsh, Aine Tierney, Emily McEvoy and Clodagh Beehan.

All 6 girls practiced really hard here at Crosspatrick NS in the Ball Wall and in the Field over the past number of weeks.

Clodagh Beehan was joint Captain for the final.

Emily McEvoy scored a point in the final
