Research and Innovation are important levers to strengthening sustainable partnerships with partner countries and scientific collaborations are key to developing appropriate answers to global challenges by strengthening the research capacities of partner countries. The Global Gateway strategy and the Global approach to R&I offer a renewed political framework based on reciprocity, shared interests, and targeted investments. Several initiatives have been launched to set up scientific partnerships while regional dialogues are also pursued to identify research themes of common interest. Through a focus on the EU-African scientific partnerships, the conference aims to discuss the role of research and innovation in the development of partnerships between the European Union and partner countries.

Conference on Research and Innovation in Africa A driver for development and partnerships

New opportunity! Our member DeSIRA-LIFT is looking for an expert to conduct a rapid review of regional agricultural policies in Africa.
The aim of the assignment is to identify the mandates, policies, and priorities of the African Regional Economic Communities (RECs) regarding the agricultural sector in their constituencies and particularly to which extent the RECs are investing or are interested in supporting agroecological approaches (or related themes). The review also includes several regional bodies (inter-governmental committees and economic and monetary unions).

The review is expected to take place in the period September 2023 – November 2023.

Number of days: 25 days
Max fee rate: 500 euro per day
Interested candidates are invited to review the Terms of References and submit their applications (a cover letter and a CV that highlights relevant experience against the requested profile) to [email protected].

We are delighted to announce that our esteemed member, DeSIRA-LIFT, is currently seeking a talented and dynamic Communications Manager to join their team.
As a Communications Officer, you'll be responsible for the external communication and dissemination of DeSIRA-LIFT outputs. This part-time role (8-16 hours per week) will run from October 2023 to May 2025, with a maximum daily fee rate of €450.

The Nutrition Research Facility (NRF) has launched a call for expression of interest for a Junior Expert – Research Assistant.

The NRF is established under the Knowledge and Research for Nutrition EU project, aiming to respond to requests for evidence from decision-makers, to support the design, monitoring, evaluation, and learning in relation to policies and programmes for better nutrition outcomes in low- and middle-income countries. The NRF is looking for a junior expert to support the implementation of the research study "Analysing pathways and potential of agri-food value chains to deliver nutrition impact in Africa”. The position is home-based. Information about the scope of work and eligibility criteria for this position can be found in the attached Terms of Reference. The expert is expected to start his/her assignment as soon as possible.
