Discoveries Montessori Preschool This page is set up to inform parents of preschool children about Disoveries Montessori in Ballyhooly. Discoveries is a member of Early Childhood Ireland.

Discoveries Montessori participates in the free preschool scheme (ECCE). We are registered with TUSLA (Child and Family Agency, formerly HSE). All staff are fully trained and qualified Early Education Practitioners, they are also Buntús trained and certified (preschool physical education). Discoveries provides:

Pre Montessori Rm catering for children aged 2 yrs 6 mths and up

Montessori Rm catering for children aged 3 yrs and up. Opening times are 9:30 am to 12:30 pm Monday to Friday during the school year. Discoveries has access to a large indoor physical play area. Outdoor play is facilitated by nearby public playground. Best practices in curriculum planning, observations and reflective practice are adhered to.

Our Story

Discoveries Montessori is a higher capitation Early Years school, located in Ballyhooly, Co. Cork. Discoveries has achieved full compliance in inspections (Tusla 2017; DCYA 2016).

Owner/Montessori Teacher: Catherine Burke. Holds a First Class Honours Degree - B.A. Early Childhood Studies & Practice (NUI Galway); Diploma Montessori Education (MEC Dublin); LINC - Leadership in INClusion (Mary Immaculate College, Limerick); B.A. and H. Dip. Comp Sc. (UCC).

Mission Statement: Discoveries provides a safe, secure, and stimulating learning environment embracing all children, parents and families. Diversity is valued and inclusive practice is promoted. The Montessori method is advocated in fostering children’s concentration, curiousity and cognitive development. Play is encouraged as a vehicle for social, emotional, language, creative and cognitive learning and development. Parents are recognised as the primary educators of children and parent/guardian’s input, partnership and feedback is welcomed and valued.
