"John Horton Conway passed away today on April 11, 2020, in Princeton New Jersey (USA). The few sources available at this time (the first news from a tweet from his friend Colm Mulcahy, later taken up by various sources, including his biographer Siobhan Roberts) attribute his disappearance to Covid-19. Born in Liverpool in 1937, he was a multifaceted mathematician, active mainly in finite group theory, in which he helped complete the classification in the 1980s, node theory, number theory and combinatorial game theory.
