✨MY TEACHING GROUPS✨

So now that I’m officially back in the classroom, I have a much better idea of my teaching groups for the rest of the school year.

I am 6th year class tutor and will be teaching 3rd year OL maths, TY physics and 5th year OL maths while providing maths and science support to some of the students in our Hub.

My first month back will be busy between adjusting to being back in the classroom, finishing my postgraduate diploma in School Leadership and keeping up with my jumpAgrade and regular grinds students 😮‍💨

BUT, my postgrad finishes up in 4 short weeks, just in time to squeeze in a crash revision course in December before the Christmas tests! More info to follow but DM me if you’re interested!

✨LEAVING CERT RESULTS✨

Tomorrow is a big day for thousands of students across the country!
Swipe through to see the important dates over the next couple of weeks.

The date for appeals results will depend on how many appeals are received so there isn’t any information available on this yet.

Best of luck to everyone receiving results tomorrow! Whatever the outcome, what’s for you won’t pass you ⭐️

✨ORGANISATION HACKS✨

Using this weekend to get the school bags sorted for the end of August? Here are a few tips to help you get organised!

First years in particular take awhile to get their heads around a new building, new teachers, classmates and subjects along with the whole idea of moving class every 40-60 minutes! This can make the first few weeks of what should be an exciting milestone really overwhelming.

Once you have all your books and stationery, organise everything you need by subject into A4 zip wallets. For example, for maths, your textbook, copybook, Formula and Tables book and anything else your maths teacher has asked you to have should all go into one folder. This way if you’re grabbing books from your locker in a rush you’re not going to forget a copy or a notebook that’s been wedged between 2 bit textbooks!

A large pencil case is also useful for items you need in more than one subject. It can hold your large ruler for maths and science, your colouring pencils for geography and CSPE and your calculator for maths and business studies.

Pro tip: print off your timetable and stick it on the inside of your locker. It’s much easier to grab what books you need when you’re looking at your timetable rather than trying to keep your homework journal open and rifle through your locker at the same time!

✨SCIENTIFIC CALCULATORS✨

In the current climate, back to school is a particularly expensive time! It’s very difficult to send kids home from school to tell their parents they need to spend more money on a calculator, especially if they’ve already purchased one that simply isn’t up to the job!

But follow my simple dos and don’ts and it can be an investment that sees your child through their 5/6 years of secondary school.

DM me with any questions you might have about getting started in secondary school in the lead up to the big day!

✨The Professional Stuff✨
I’m a maths, chemistry and physics teacher with over 10 years experience in the classroom. I graduated from UCC in 2014 with an honours BScED (Chemistry) and then went on to study maths and statistics with Open University, qualifying in 2016. A glutton for punishment, I received a first class honours in a PDip in Teaching Physics in 2023 and am currently completing a level 9 PGDip in School Leadership 😮‍💨

I also have experience correcting mock exams in both maths and chemistry and state exams in maths at junior cycle higher level and most recently leaving certificate ordinary level 🤓

I am teaching in the beautiful seaside town of Youghal where, from this September, it looks like I’ll have all year groups of Junior Cycle maths, 5th year maths and LCA mathematical applications 👩🏻‍🏫
