Last but certainly not least is returning chair to DISEC Cían Lynch, aided this time by co-chair Jack Walsh.

Cían is a final year History and Politics student and the Social Officer for the International Relations Society in UCC (or IR Soc, for short).
A veteran of a number of MUNs both in Ireland and as far away as Azerbaijan, Cían has won awards ranging from “Best Delegate,” “The Diplomacy Award,” and most importantly, the coveted “Sassiest Delegate” award.
When not in IR Soc, he can be found blowing things up with the Reserve Defence Forces, running, or sailing.
A student of Government and Political Science, this is Jack's first year on the IRSoc committee, where he is an OCM. Having enjoyed the weekly MUN sessions run by the society, he jumped at the opportunity to get involved in this year's NatMUN conference. An avid follower of all things politics and current affairs, he also enjoys history, art and sailing in his spare time.

Leading our Historical Crisis Committee (Crisis) is Emma Holland (chairperson) and Tadhg MacCionnaith (co-chairperson) with backroom directors Andrew Robertson and Jaime Downey.

Emma is a third year BA student studying History and Politics here at UCC. She got involved with IRSoc in her first year and has recently become the society’s secretary. Emma has become the society’s resident bad guy and will cheerfully do whatever it takes to prevent a resolution being passed, much like the country she regularly represents; America. This will be Emma’s second time as both a NatMUN chairperson and a chairperson for the Historical Crisis Committee. Though Covid will pose some challenges to this year’s NatMUN, she is confident that the conference will be a success.

Tadhg MacCionnaith is a 3rd Year Government and Politics student who has been involved in the Model United Nations scene since he was in TY both as a delegate and a chair. When not aggressively portraying Switzerland in MUN assembly Tadhg can be found getting involved in Crisis committee, usually as part of the problem. As part of NatMUN ’21 Tadhg will be helping to run the historical crisis, which is the 1975 Iranian Hostage Crisis. What could possibly go wrong?

Andrew is an BA student, studying History and Geography at UCC. He has four years experience in MUN and has previously taken part in MUN conferences both in Ireland and as far away as Belgium. When not representing China in special assemblies, Andrew enjoys board games, hiking and history.

Jaime is 21 and from Waterford! She is in her final year, studying Sociology and Politics at UCC. While new to MUN, she is the chairperson of UCC Europa Society which focuses on all things political. Always having an interest in International Affairs, this has only grown since she began college.

They're all looking forward to meeting you this weekend and seeing what chaos, coups and crises you can cause!

Next is our Historical Security Council with Shane Goodman and Caleb Cotter acting as your trusty chairpersons.

Shane has been involved with the UCC International Relations Society and Model UN since 2018 and has represented the society on the international level also. He is currently studying law and participating in the Erasmus study programme. As such, he will be joining us all the way from Prague! Having served as Secretary-General of the last NatMUN conference in 2019, Shane is very excited to take part in this year's conference and to see what solutions delegates are able to come up with.

Caleb has only been involved with the International Relations Society recently, though he has taken part in Model UN conferences on several occasions. He is currently in his final year of film, a course that enabled him to make a documentary with his friends about the legend of the Egyptian Mummy that has been hidden away on campus for the past century.

Having participated in sessions that went nuclear in the past (poor New Delhi), Caleb is looking forward to seeing some wild and interesting debates and hopes to see delegates of smaller countries be major players in the discussion.

Our third committee is the Human Rights Council, chaired by Rebecca Bradley and our Sec-Gen, Sean Power.

Rebecca is a final year Film and Screen Media Studies student at UCC. She has been attending MUN events for the past six years. She first attended NatMUN in 2015. She has been involved with the International Relations committee for the last 3 years and has travelled abroad to attend international MUN events with the society.

This is Seán's second NatMUN and he is delighted to be returning after co-chairing DISEC last year.

They are so excited to be participating in this year's NatMUN and look forward to working with you.

Returning as co-chairs to UN Women this year are Róisín Mullins and Paul Wills.

Róisín is a final year Law student. She took part in NatMUN 2015 in UN Women and was one of the chairs of the UN Women committee at NatMUN 2018 and 2019. She became director of Loreto Clonmel MUN 17 and attended twelve other Model UN conferences throughout secondary school. Róisín represented the delegation of China in (you guessed it) UN Women at HamMUN 2018 in Germany. Despite having to move the conference to an online platform this year, Róisín hopes that students engage with the debate topic at hand and make this year’s UN Women committee as exciting as other years.

Paul is a second year physics student. He took part in many MUN conferences throughout secondary school and won an award for most entertaining delegate at the prestigious Loreto Clonmel MUN conference. Paul loves heated debate between delegates and believes that a bit of drama makes a conference all the more enjoyable. He encourages delegates to try and represent their countries’ values despite their personal opinions, and generally have fun with their delegation!

Meet Annie, the chairperson of Security Council. Annie is in the third year of her Environmental Science course here at UCC and has been very involved in MUN for many years. Her first time attending a MUN conference was actually NatMUN 2015. After that, Annie joined her school's MUN club and since then has attended and assisted with the organisation of many MUN conferences. When Annie isn't chairing at NatMUN, you can find her in her other role, as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) on the IRSoc committee.

Co-chairing with Annie is Gerald O'Donovan, a first year Law and French student. He has been involved in MUN since TY and has invaluable experience in attending and organising MUN conferences, including as a Secretary-General.

Hello everyone,

We're so excited to meet you this coming weekend and to get to know you, but first a bit about us...

Sean Power is this year's Secretary-General and a second year Arts International student. He has been participating in MUN since beginning college in 2019. One of his favourite things to do at University -level MUN is cause drama in the General Assembly. After all, MUN would have no purpose if there was never any controversy!

Katie Marah is this year's chairperson of the International Relations Society (IRSoc) and a final year Early Years and Childhood Studies student. She has been participating in MUN debates since beginning college three years ago. When not reigning tyranically over the long suffering IRSoc committee and losing her mind trying to organise NatMUN, she enjoys drinking far too many cups of tea, history and debating with others over contentious topics.
