St. Mary’s students recently welcomed Shane Martin, a teacher originally from Cookstown, Co. Tyrone. Shane spoke with our third, transition year and sixth year history students about his personal experience of growing up during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Shane’s openness and honesty gave our students an insight into this period of history that no textbook could ever provide. Hearing history through the eyes of someone who lived it is an education in itself. Thank you Shane, you made a lasting impression on all our students.

Our TYs headed to Hollyhill last week for the Apple TY Experience 2026, getting a first-hand look at the future of tech and STEM careers.

Ahead of the trip, the students put on their developer hats and prepared case studies on creating their very own apps. . 💻📱

Huge congratulations to Sheila, Eimear, Amber, Amelia, Meabh, and Jane, who proudly presented their ideas on the day. 🙌
