START STRONG, COME ALONG!

We are thrilled with the attendance at school so far. There are only 2 days left in our 'START STRONG, COME ALONG' attendance drive.

All pupils who have been present at school for the first 7 days of the term will be entered into a raffle to win cinema vouchers. The raffle will take place at the whole school assembly on Friday.

If you're not in, you can't win!

Following on from Ms. Bowe's video message yesterday, we will have an attendance drive for the first 7 days of the school year. To be in with the chance to win some cinema tickets, your child must be in school on:

✅️Wednesday 2nd September
✅️Thursday 3rd September
✅️Friday 4th September

Some information for the parents of our Early Start (Pre-School) class ahead of next Thursday 27th August.

Parents of children enrolled in both the morning & afternoon classes should have received a text message yesterday. If you did not receive it, please contact the school on 021-4357852 and we will check the contact details on file.

SCHOOL LUNCHES- ASHDALE

Please see attached messages from our lunch supplier Ashdale to parents/guardians of new and existing pupils regarding school lunches.

The menu has changed so please make sure that you log into (or register for) your Ashdale App so that your child has a lunch order for 27th August!

Your child may not get a lunch on the first day, if you have not logged in to confirm lunches!

If your child is in Early Start, then you do not have to register your child. All other classes - Junior Infants to 6th Class, Room 3 and Room 4 need to register if you wish for your child to receive a FREE school lunch.

Please make sure you have logged on to Aladdin before return to school also- to make sure you haven’t forgotten passwords etc, and so that you don’t miss any important messages from the school!

Please share with other parents ahead of our return to school on 27th August 2026 @8:50am - we look forward to seeing all our pupils then!!

Keep an eye out for 4th Class B's kite on display in Douglas Court Shopping Centre at the moment. Their beautiful artwork definitely brightens the place up🤩🪁🤩🪁

It's amazing what the gorgeous sunshine can do for the many things we are growing in our school.
Just look at the lavender in Nicole's Garden in full bloom! And it smells as good as it looks too!

Another fantastic year in Scoil na Croise Naofa! And what better way to celebrate our summer holidays than to share with you our school song sung by 1st and 2nd classes with their teachers Ms Coughlan and Mr O' Donovan - accompanied by singer/songwriter/SNA Carol!

Cal music, aka Carol O' Keeffe and Lisa Love, composed this special song for the students of our school to be celebrated and sung for many generations to come.
The song was inspired by the welcoming ethos instilled in Scoil na Croise Naofa, where every child is included and encouraged to work together every day.
Carol and Lisa have written other songs about our local community - check out "Along the Marina" about our very own walk in Blackrock!

☀️ Happy Summer Holidays from Scoil na Croise Naofa! ☀️

What a wonderful year we’ve had from Early Start right up to 6th Class! We have seen so many achievements and milestones reached, so much fun and laughter, so many smiles, and so much of that unmistakable Holy Cross spirit on display. We have also seen incredible resilience when things didn’t always go to plan or go our way. We are so immensely proud of each and every one of our pupils, and we hope they all enjoy a richly deserved, fun-filled summer!

The exact same goes for our incredible staff, who have worked tirelessly all year on behalf of our pupils and who have more than earned this break from school!

💐 A Special Farewell
We wish Ms Maeve Heaphy every best wish as she embarks on the next chapter of her career as Principal of Glasheen Girls. Much like the pupils who graduate from Scoil na Croise Naofa, Maeve will ALWAYS be a part of the Holy Cross family. Go n-éirí go geal leat, Maeve… thank you for everything you’ve done for us here in Mahon!

And so, we close the gate on the 2025/2026 school year—perhaps a little tired, maybe even a little emotional, but deeply content that it was everything we hoped for, and maybe even more.
