DCS were delighted to get out and support the on marathon 23 out of 33 in their marathon challenge to raise awareness for dementia. Some of our students got the opportunity to run with the lads for such an inspiring cause! Well done to all involved!

O’Callaghan who, as a team, are finalists in the EA Sports school competition this Saturday. We are very proud of their achievement and delighted to see them representing the school so positively.

A huge congratulations to our 4th year students for their fantastic fundraising efforts during Autism Acceptance Month.
Through a range of thoughtful and creative activities, including the “DCS Turns It Red” day and a local pin collection, they raised an incredible €2,150. This is a remarkable achievement and reflects real teamwork, effort, and community spirit. Well done to everyone involved for supporting such an important cause and helping to promote awareness and acceptance in such a positive way.

Coming together as a school community is what the Big Brother programme is all about! Our 1st and 4th Year students headed down to the brilliant West Cork Secret recently for a day focused entirely on connection and teamwork. We are so proud of the camaraderie shown by both the 1st Years and the TYs.

Douglas Community School claimed a thrilling victory in the Under 14D final against Gaelcholáiste Charraig Uí Leighin, emerging winners by two points after a fiercely contested game. Played in Douglas GAA, the match was backed by fantastic support from our students, creating a great atmosphere throughout. Well done to the team and their coaches 🏆

You are warmly invited to visit A Moment Captured, an exhibition showcasing the work of our talented 5th year art students. For this project students created paintings inspired by photographs they took themselves, thoughtfully exploring composition, light and colour while capturing moments that hold personal significance.

The exhibition is on display at Douglas Library, located in Douglas Village Shopping Centre, and will run for two weeks. We hope you can come along and experience these meaningful and creative works.

Our 1st years had a fantastic day at Fota Wildlife Park for their annual ecology trip 🌿🦒
From an engaging ecology lecture covering key Junior Cycle Science concepts and global conservation efforts, to hands-on fieldwork in woodland and grassland habitats, students got a real taste of ecology in action.

They carried out line transects, quadrat studies, and explored biodiversity using sweep nets, pitfall traps and beating trays — before finishing the day by exploring the park and its incredible wildlife.

A brilliant mix of learning and experience! 🌍

The class of 1976 held their 50th reunion on the evening of May 8th at the Rochestown Park Hotel. The event was also attended by a number of their former teachers. Earlier in the day we were delighted to host a group for a chat and tour of the school. It was great to share stories and to witness strong friendships formed in DCS over half a century ago.

A group of 4th and 5th year students recently spent a wonderful week in Paris and Rennes as part of our French Exchange Programme. They did a sightseeing tour of Paris on les bateaux mouches, they visited Le Musée d’Orsay and experienced a TGV train trip to Rennes. In Rennes they stayed with their host students, took part in daily school life and experienced Breton and French culture first hand. They also visited Le Mont Saint Michel and the coastal town of Saint Malo.

Ils se sont très bien amusés et ils ont tous hâte d’y rentrer le plus vite que possible. Merci à Mme Moylan pour avoir organisé ce voyage inoubliable et à Mme Maher pour avoir accompagné les élèves en France.
