We’re so proud of everything our students and teachers have achieved in this first year of the Cork Academy of Strings. From first notes to ensemble playing, it’s been a fantastic year of music making. If you're considering lessons in violin, viola, Cello or guitar for next year, this is a lovely chance to see what we do. Come along and enjoy the music!

ConCorda will take place from 2nd-9th August 2025 in Newtown School, Waterford.

ConCorda is open to string players aged 14 – 24 of grade 5 or equivalent playing standard and above.

Here's a glimpse of our rehearsal today before the Cork Academy of Strings Christmas Concert! 🎶 We are so proud of all our students, from the Violin Ensemble, Cello Ensemble, Junior Strings, Guitar Duo, String Quartet, and Octet, who worked so hard to bring this music to life.

A special congratulations to those who had their first-ever performance today—you were amazing! 👏🎻🎸

We had such a lovely morning in Scoil Phádraig Naofa performing some music featuring the guitar as soloist. The children learned all about the classical guitar and listened to some beautiful guitar music. Guitar lessons commencing in November. Don't forget that applications are open for the 2024 IAYO National Chamber Music Workshops are now open! 📣

We will hold our annual workshops on Saturday, 26 and Sunday, 27 October 2024 at Rosary College, Crumlin in Dublin. The fee will be €120.

The closing date for applications is Friday, 4 October 2024!📝

Under the direction of Katharine Mac Mághnuis, this weekend course is suitable for strings, woodwind and brass players from grades 2 – 5 (or equivalent standard).

Experience of chamber ensemble playing is not needed but players should be able to read music.

This course will be non-residential.
