Success in the Court of Appeal.
The Court of Appeal unanimously ruled in favour of Secular Schools Ireland holding that “the Department made a serious error of administration in rejecting the application on the basis of invalidity” and that Secular Schools Ireland had been “wrongly excluded” from the evaluation process.
The Court noted that although Secular Schools Ireland was not seeking to set aside the current patronage appointment in respect of the Carrigtwohill school which opened in 2015, “the case raised a significant issue of public administration and it is of real importance for the applicant that its position is vindicated.”

We believe that:
Every child is entitled to be treated equally, under the Constitution.
Every child is entitled to equal access to education.
Every child is entitled to expect fair and equal treatment...and is entitled to be treated as an individual, as well as a full and equal member of the school community.
Every parent is entitled to educate their children, in line with their values.
We also believe that every child is entitled to access to a rigorous academic education, provided in a nurturing and stimulating environment which not only meets their needs for social and personal growth and development but does so in an inclusive community which honours their need for belonging.
