What if this is how it was meant to be ....

What if we saw children sleeping on us as a positive? What if we viewed the babies who refuse to go down to nap as a sign that we need to slow down?

What if we changed our perceptions on contact naps, and instead viewed them as an opportunity to relax?

Baby has just fallen asleep on me. I spend a few minutes browsing Facebook and then, my mind wonders towards the dishes piling up in the sink. The pile of laundry stacked up in the bathroom. The dust that has settled on the tv. I start to feel guilty. I start thinking about work that could be done. Or food that needs to be cooked. I try to put baby down, but no way. Baby is having NONE of it.

But what if, just say, WHAT IF this is how it is SUPPOSED to be? Alright yes, we know that evolutionary babies are designed to want to be close to their mothers, but what if that is also meant to work out for the mother to rest too. It’s meant to be for OUR benefit.
To sit back for just a moment, and forget about everything else going on in life.
To take in the beauty of our children, and REST.

Rest our minds.
And rest our bodies.

Childbirth has put our bodies under some serious stress. And there are always a million things that need to be done before the day is over. Perhaps our babies and children needing us to be still with them is natures way of telling us to slow down for just a moment.

Rest mama.
Take the opportunity ❤️

The Last Days of Pregnancy: A Place of In-Between - Mothering 17/10/2018

The Last Days of Pregnancy: A Place of In-Between - Mothering The last days of pregnancy are a distinct time of in-between. It's a tricky time for mothers, as these days are a biologic and psychological event.

・・・
"Right when baby Wolf was born, the stillness of his spirit made the room quiet. Everyone in the room went from ecstatic joy to an deep reverence while he showed us his wisdom. Imagine being born into a world with such an easy transition to welcome you into this new life. Warm water, the only light in the room is that from the sun, voices of those who deeply love you whisper around the room, the hands that cradle your head come from the one heartbeat you’ve only known, cord still attached pulsing vital oxygen while you figure out how to breathe. Being allowed on your timing to find the breast while still connected to the only source that has brought you nourishment, the placenta. No one rushes you to figure out how to quickly survive because your soul knows all is well. .

Take a deep breath and ponder this following thought.... This is how most births can be and when we realize that the rush following our own personal births, is the rush that has sped up society as a whole, we can in turn, start to slow ourselves back to to the natural rhythm of life. .
We were forced to breathe quick, most of our body’s blood, still back in our life giving placenta. We were whisked away to a hard unfamiliar place and rubbed and talked to by strangers. We immediately had to figure this life out fast.... and all of this in my opinion has left us with the imprint to move fast. .
So again.... Come back and take a deep inhale and exhale and remember to slow yourself down... your internal rhythm slows and this rhythm will set the pace for future generations".

It looks like we're in for a heatwave! Take care in the sun and remember: the composition of your breastmilk will change in response to the weather. It will have a higher water content in hot weather, and your baby will look for extra feeds to satisfy thirst as well as hunger.
