Name: Grace Hernan

Area of Study: Applied Psychology

“Hello! My name is Grace and I’m a final year Applied Psychology student. I absolutely love UCC and would be delighted if there’s anything that I can do to help to make your experience even better. I love all types of music and play the cello, and my favourite thing to do is go to concerts. I also love watersports, Gaeilge, the cinema, and cool clothes and jewellery! My guilty pleasure is definitely the Hamilton soundtrack - in my ears at all times.

I am this year’s Chairperson of the Psychological Society and volunteer as a social media assistant with Aphasia Ireland, a wonderful charity for people with langage difficulties as a result of brain damage. I’ve tried my hand at lots of things on campus so feel free to ask me about anything at all!”

Name: Orla O’Donovan

Area of Study: BA International - History and Geography

“My name is Orla O’Donovan and I am a 2nd Year student studying History and Geography in the BA International programme. These subjects are two of my biggest interests and one day I hope to become a teacher to pass these passions onto others. I love music and I play violin (classical and trad) and saxophone. It is highly likely that if you see me around campus or studying in the Boole, I will probably have headphones in, listening to Kingfishr or Niall Horan! Everyone around me knows that I am a big fan of a quiz and my competitive side always comes out, particularly in the music rounds. I also love being in the kitchen and can be found there most weekends baking cookies or cooking dinner for my family. Unfortunately for my bank account, I can be easily convinced into treating myself to a sweet treat after a tough lecture!

Feel free to contact me about any issues or questions you may have, and if I don’t know the answer, I will point you in the direction of someone who does! Even if you just want to talk to someone, I’m always up for a chat!”

Name: Michal Gawlik

Area of Study: BA English

“I am a 3rd Year BA English student. If I’m not working on my dissertation or reading books, you can find me playing guitar, painting or playing Dungeons and Dragons - I have been called a one-man-band for the amount of hobbies I have. I enjoy watching all sorts of movies and series (Adventure Time is my absolute obsession), I knit and sew and additionally I work at the IT Helpdesk at UCC between my classes so you can always find me on campus. I came to Ireland two years ago at the beginning of college and had to find out a lot of things by myself, so now I would like to help others going through the same thing. Whether you are struggling with school, making friends, finding your place in Cork or at UCC or even if you’re not sure where a building is or how to connect to Eduroam - I’m your guy. I can offer you a hot drink, a snack and an attentive ear, so don’t hesitate to reach out!”
