🌟 LEAVING CERT GRADUATION 🌟

Last week, we said a proud and emotional goodbye to our 6th Years at their graduation ceremony.

They arrived in 2020 wearing masks and keeping their distance, they leave with big smiles and even bigger futures ahead of them.

Wonderful memories and friendships were made over six special years together, and we couldn’t be prouder of the young adults they have become.

To the Class of 2026, we wish you every success and happiness in whatever comes next. You’ve got this. 🎓

Our Under 14.5 footballers finished their season with a defeat to Coláiste Ghobnatan in the Under 14.5 final. Despite the disappointment, it has been an excellent year for the team, who showed great commitment and effort throughout.

The highlight of the season was winning the Dr. Michael Hurley Blitz in Dunmanway. A sincere thank you to all the players for their dedication during the year, and to Mr. Twohig, Mr. Cronin, and GDA Fachtna O’Connor for their hard work and support with the team.

McEgan College's Track and Field team attended the South Munster Track and Field Championships in MTU recently. They competed in sprints, middle distance and jumping events.

Particular kudos to Ronan McGrellis who made it to the Intermediate Boys final of the 100m, after stellar performances in his heat and semi final, even its less than ideal conditions with a wet track and cold, wet weather. His training is definitely paying dividends!

Well done to all the athletes for competing so well in their events. Onwards and upwards!

Well done to our TY Home Economics class who recently took part in a barista course. They learnt how to make americanos, lattes and cappuccinos. These skills will help them in securing part time jobs. Well done to all involved and thanks to Ms Sheehan for organising.

The 4th Year students made the most of the wonderful sunshine during their recent trip to the picturesque Ballyhass Lakes in Mallow.

The overnight adventure kicked off with a full day of activities, including axe throwing, high ropes, canoeing, and a variety of water sports. The evening was filled with quizzes, fun games, and a sing-song around the campsite fire, complete with marshmallows. The following day brought even more sunshine, with students enjoying additional water activities, archery, and zip-lining. It was an action-packed two days where students gained valuable experiences and created lasting memories.

Massive congratulations to our 3rd year students Jack O’Sullivan and Daniel O’Connell who recently received a Foróige Citizenship Award for their project ‘Generations in Action’.

The boys spent a day cleaning and restoring the recreational area at Macroom Senior Citizens’ facility, power washing, scrubbing walls and sweeping pavements. The residents treated them to refreshments for their hard work.

They were presented recently with their award alongside the Lord Mayor Fergal Dennehy and Foróige CEO Eric O’Brien.

Very proud of them both. 👏
