Looking for accommodation? Here are 10 important points to keep in mind when searching for accommodation now or in the future!
1. Manage expectations and be patient, you may not get your first preference, however, there will always be options.
2. Stay proactive and persistent, it will take time and effort to find accommodation, so the sooner you start your search the better.
3. Keep in mind - the demand for student accommodation is incredibly high at the moment, and there are very limited places and options at this time.
4. Ring landlords if this option is given instead of emailing as they will have their inboxes full of similar queries.
5. Begin your accommodation search as soon as possible for the next year. Many complexes open applications as early as December-January.
6. If possible, know your budget well in advance and narrow down your options depending on this.
7. Have a back-up plan: the outcome of the Campus Accommodation lottery is unpredictable, so have a back-up accommodation well in advance within your price range incase you are not successful in the lottery.
8. Keep your mind open to all accommodation options, such as private complexes, private rentals, digs and owner-occupied houses.
9. Try to connect with other students in shared accommodation, you will end up spending lots of time together, and this may ease the transition of living away from home.
10. Always view a place either in person or through a video call with the landlord before handing over any money!

Looking for accommodation in Cork for the summer? 🏡⭐️
1) Campus Accommodation do offer a Summer Beds program, with more information being available on their website (Link in Bio). The campus accommodation complexes are run by The Campus Accommodation Office, who are separate to us so if you have any further questions regarding that process, they can be contacted [email protected]. It is important to note that during the summer months, Campus Accomm are open to everyone, not just students.
2) Private Student Complexes offer rooms throughout the summer; their contact information can be found on our website (Link in bio). It is important to note that during the summer months, these accommodation complexes are open to everyone, not just students.
3) If you have not created a Student Pad (Link in bio) account, we recommend creating one as soon as possible. It is really helpful to have notifications on and be incredibly persistent when looking at listings. Once properties have been approved, they are posted on the website immediately. Although many listings are for the academic year, we do get adverts up for the summer months and these will increase from May onwards.
