Announcement
Dear Parents,

I wanted to inform you personally that I am retiring from the 31st August. Practically speaking this will be a few weeks before this date. A process is currently underway to choose a new principal. We hope to be able to make an announcement on this in due course.

I have worked in Scoil Iosaef Naofa since 1982, the last 10 years as principal. It has been an honour and a privilege. Thank you for your co-operation, ,support and friendship down through the years.

I am confident with the staff, students and parents we have, that the school will continue to go from strength to strength.

Tony Kenneally.

The last number of years has seen us remember the major conflicts in our history:The First World War, the 1916 Rising and now the War of Independence.
Wednesday 28th April marks the centenary anniversary of the deaths of two of our past pupils. We will be holding a raising of the national flag to honour the sacrifice made by Maurice Moore and Patrick O'Sullivan in the War of Independence. Both men were born in 1899 were school friends. They joined the Irish Volunteers in 1916 and took part in many engagements in the struggle for independence. Maurice and Patrick were captured at the Battle of Clonmult on Sunday 20th February and were executed 2 months later by Crown forces at Cork Military Barracks on the 28th April 1921. Maurice Moore came from Ticknock and Patrick O'Sullivan from Carrignafoy.
These men gave their lives for their country and it is important we acknowledge their sacrifice. We will say a short prayer and reflection.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions we are not inviting anyone to attend the ceremony but the Senior classes will learn about the War of Independence in class.
We also pray for all our past pupils who died in the cause of Irish freedom and indeed for everyone who died in conflicts both at home and abroad.
